Warts are a stubborn skin growth that could annoy you for years

They have the tendency to come back and they are also contagious. HPV can spread from one part of the body to other parts like the genitals and it can also spread from one person to another.

This skin growth is caused by Human Papilloma Virus and the virus lies dormant in the body, just waiting for the right trigger to flare up. •  Boost your immune system . People with weak immune systems are more likely to catch the virus because they have weak anti-bodies to fight the virus. If you are healthy and strong, occurrence is less frequent or it may not occur again.

• Practice safe sex. Use protection like condoms but you have to know that condoms provide limited protection and the virus can be transmitted through intercourse or oral sex. As much as possible do not engage in sexual contact with a person with visible genital growths. If you are the one infected, abstain from sexual contact until the warts or infection is cured.

Warts aren’t something that only affects humans. They are rife in the animal kingdom too and warts in dogs are a common problem

Warts in dogs are infectious in nature and can spread to other dogs through physical contact. Warts in dogs are epidermis tumors that are caused by many different types of viral infections. Asking pet health questions form an important part of dealing with warts in dogs. Warts in dogs come in two broad categories. Warts infecting older dogs are the most common ones. By nature, warts are benign and only threaten pet health if they get infected or become larger in size. However, warts can damage pet health in younger dogs as they are infectious in nature.

Medically warts are known as Canine viral papilloma. Spread by physical contact with other dogs, your dog can contract this infection rather easily. Small and shaped like cauliflowers these warts populate the muzzle, tongue, eyelids, and lips in dogs, but they can also invade the skin around the rectum or vulva in some others. Warts take about 1-2 months to grow from the time of the contact.

In general, warts are harmless if few in number. They tend to stay on the skin of older dogs, while disappear in younger dogs on their own as the immune system can fight the virus properly. In some dogs, warts can create havoc with pet health and lead to problems in breathing and eating.

Symptoms of Warts in Dogs

Diagnosis of Warts in Dogs

Since papillomas are distinct and pathognomonic in nature, they don’t require diagnostic testing. Nevertheless, in some cases, diagnosis may be necessary to ascertain the extent and depth of the infection as it would reveal the damage done to pet health. Two of the more important diagnostic tests that require to be done are:

FA complete blood count or CBC test, urinalysis, and biochemical profile is necessary for dogs that have lost appetite and have poor pet health as well as prolonged discomfort due to difficultly in food intake.
FIn some cases, the dog may be subjected to surgical biopsy for a proper confirmation. However, it may be required in most cases.

Treatment of Warts in Dogs

Warts don’t require any particular treatment as the viral papillomas disappear on their own. However, in come cases, especially when the warts are located in an area that causes discomfort, or when pet owners demand removal of the warts to restore pet health, treatments can be initiated.

These treatments include:

1.Surgery: cryosurgery, electrocautery are the two main surgical procedure implemented for removal. The former involves destruction by freezing, of the damaged tissue using liquid nitrogen, while the later is the use of laser to kill the papilloma.

2.Another treatment involves crushing the papilloma physically to stimulate an immune response from the body of the pet as this helps restore pet health and expedites the disappearance of the warts.

3.If the dog has failed to relapse after more than 5-6 months, then systemic chemotherapy can help in varying degrees to successfully restore pet health.

Warts are harmless growths on the skin which can appear almost anywhere on the body. They are caused by a common virus known as Human Papilloma Virus, or HPV. The virus infects a small area of the skin, causing it to grow rapidly and resulting in a small bump on the skin’s surface.

Most of the times warts are completely painless, except in areas where pressure is frequently put on them, such as the soles of your feet.

Although people of any age can be infected, most of the times children and young adults are affected. What Are Common Warts And What Causes Common Warts?

These non- cancerous skin growths caused by a viral infection in the top layer of the skin. Viruses that cause warts are called human papillomavirus (HPV). Warts are usually skin-colored and feel rough to the touch, but they can be dark, flat and smooth. The appearance of a wart depends on where it is growing. Most are treatable or in younger people may disappear by themselves. There are a number of  effective wart removal treatments around and you need to make yourself familiar with them and nmaybe get some advice to make the right choice for you.

There are several different types of warts. For instance, common warts usually develop around sites where there was an injury; flat warts (accompanied by itching) develop on hands; digitate warts have fingerlike projections; filiform warts develop on eyelids, armpits, and necks; and plantar warts develop on the soles of the feet. Genital warts are pink cauliflower-shaped areas that develop on male or female genitalia. If genital warts form in a woman’s cervix, she may be more likely to develop cervical cancer.

Common warts are local growths in the skin that are caused by human papillomavirus(HPV) infection. They are generally not contagious. There are over 100 types of papillomaviruses (HPVs) that infect humans.

What causes warts?

More than 80 different types of HPV have been identified, and they have tropism (affinity) for different types of body tissue. Most types of HPV have an affinity for the skin and produce common warts (verruca vulgaris), flat warts (verruca plana), and plantar or foot warts (verruca plantaris). Several other types of HPV have an affinity for mucous membranes and some of these cause ano-genital warts (condyloma acuminata) for which there are  genital wart removal products .

HPV is passed from person to person by direct or indirect contact, and from one body location to another on the same person. The virus more easily enters the body through an area of skin that is moist, peeling, or cracked.

Warts can occur when HPV invades the body through tiny cuts or breaks in the skin on the bottom of the feet. The virus often is encountered on contaminated surfaces, such as the tile floors of public locker rooms, showers, and swimming pools. Normally, antibodies in the blood destroy HPV, but in some cases, it takes refuge in the skin.

Some of the other causes of warts are, people with low immune systems such as those with AID’s, diabetics, cancer patients, transplant patients, elderly people, and children. A cut, or scratch on the hands, or feet can be some of the causes of warts they allow the wart virus to enter the body.

In the home bath room floors, and showers should be cleaned with a disinfectant cleaner. Antibacterial soap is a must in the shower for the whole family to prevent the causes of warts.

Each member of the family should have a pair of thongs to prevent causes of warts. Thongs worn at all times because the wart virus can also thrive in carpets, as well as the grass on the lawn.
